Stop the time!

I know just yesterday I said I was content with the flow of time. And in a way I am. I really am.
I see Tamara growing and learning new tricks every day. The autumn is almost over and the Alps are covered with snow.  My husband is working on his PHD which is also nice.  And I just started the second sleeve of my Eskimo jacket. I feel secure in this passage of time.

But on the other hand there is another, ugly side to it.
Within a good month I will have to go back to work and my little one is going to be away from me for 8 hours. No more morning walks, cuddling in the bed, afternoon naps. Hectic of everyday life is coming to the stage.
This scares me.

So, can somebody, please stop the time? Just a little bit, please?

Time flies when you have a baby. Or when you go to work. Or when you have a hobby that you enjoy too much.

Also time flies when you have great friends and spend it with them.

It flies when you celebrate the passage of it in a very nice way.

All of the above mentioned happend to me last week and I am somehow content with the flow of time. Though sometimes it also scares me.

Here are the booties – I think they are lovely, even though the right one is a bit smaller then the left.

Saartjes booties or: Celebration of life part II

Two days ago our friends became parents and they named their cute little baby boy Anze. Here he is:

Anze

So, I rushed to buy some nice yarn to knit Saartjes booties which I have been wanting to knit for some months now (Tamara is a bit too big and active for this type of footwear, so apperently she is not a suitable model for them).

I chose light blue and lavander  yarn which is 50% acrylic, 50% wool. When I checked the stash at the little yarn store and noticed that everything they had on their shelves was mixture of acryl and something I commented on that. And the selling lady answered: »Yes of course. Otherwise it is not possible to wash the garments, you know.«

To which I replied: »Yes, I know.«

Celebration of life

The past few days have been a real celebration of life.

There is no doubt that autumn is here and I can enjoy the colourful nature and beautiful weather on the walks in Arboretum with Tamara.

On Saturday we went on a wedding party and had wonderfull time, even Tamara enjoyed herself being in the centre of attention and among so many people. It was nice to see guests enjoying themselves, dancing, laughing, tasting good food and vine. Not to mention the all nice words the groom said about his bride.

Sunday was a day for a short trip and we finished it in Radovljica, the town with gorgeaus 16th century centre where we located a new sweets-serving-place as well as two very nice and inspiring ceramics-pottery shops - one of the places even has a website and you can see quite some beautiful photos of the ceramics and also of the house where the shop is located here: Magusarjeva hisa.

Here’s a detail of what we saw there:

Yesterday we spent the whole afternoon in Ljubljana, walking in the sun, having pizza, coffe and just enjoying simple walk in the streets, sparkling with life.

P.S. I almost finished first sleeve of my jacket  - just 10 more rows to go. Hooray!

Who doesn’t have in head…

…has in heels. That’s (another strange sounding) Slovenian proverb which can be used to describe my knitting process of today. I was happily working on the second front of my jacket and almost seeing the light at the end of the tunnel (i.e. I was casting off for the neckline) when I realized there was something missing. What? Buttonholes, of course.

So, what was I to do? For a brief moment I thought about changing the final look of the buttonholes, but than the desire to have this project finished ‘by the book’ overweighed and I just ripped 20 cm off.

So now, I am back to where I started one hour ago.

I have to add that I am no knitting beginner, but buttonholes are my soft spot. This has already happened to me a number of times and somehow, I don’t seem to learn anything from my past mistakes.  Ah, well… Back to work.
