Back to normal

We have arrived from Iran on Thursday – we overslept much of the day since we were tired of travelling for the whole nigt. Saturday was already a ‘normal’ day – we went to Ljubljana to meet with friends for a cup of coffe and a stroll with our strollers.

Holidays in Iran were great. I was a bit nervous about how it would all trun out, but everyhing was just great. Tamara did not get ill, she was happy to have so many people around her all the time, she was very patient and she did not cry at all. In Tehran we visited our lovely and very hospitable friends which also made things a lot easier for us.

All this has given us a good opportunity to experience a new way of discovering the cities which we visited. It was a new way, of course, because travelling with a baby takes completely other approach to sightseeing and meeting people and –let’s face it – also everyday activites such as eating and shopping. We have been very successfull at the latter since, besides souveniers for our friends we bought two beautiful kilims. Those of you who have been to Middle East know that buying a carpet takes much time and patience :)

Here’s a peek onto the shortlist of our desires in a carpet shop in Yazd:

Since we bought one in Esfahan we decided that the small one (you can see it quite well on the second photo) was a good purchase. Our minds, though were set on the big one with bright colours (in the middle of the first photo). Hmmmmmmm, maybe nex time we’re in Yazd?

Rethinking my choices

I finished the collar of my Drops jacket on Monday. To do this I had to sew together the shoulder seams and since I was already in the mood I also did the side seams. Dreadful mistake? Well, it may have been, but it also may have been fates first sign.

After having knitted the collar I made the dreadful mistake of trying the (let’s face it) unfinished thing on. Oh God! Wish have never done that.

After 2 minutes of observing carefully myself in the mirror have come up with a conclusion: I look like a giant grey potato. The thought of not eating anything till the end of my life has crossed my mind, I admit it.

No joking. It looks horrible on me. I think this yarn is absolutely too chunky. God, I wish I had done it in Alpaca or similar… It would have taken longer to finish but it would probably also look much better on me.

For the curious reader here’s how the collar looks like:

I haven’t given up completely – I will block it (sort of) and see what happens. A miracle maybe? ;)

Tomorrow, we are off for a vacation in Middle East. Will be back in 14 days and then I will probably be ready to face this ‘thing’ again.

Proud mum

Tamara is walking! Her steps are grumpy and unsecure and she falls a lot, but nevertheless, she is walking. Am the proudest mother in universe.

I know everybody learns to walk sooner or later in their life, but…She is just 10 months.
And she is the most devoted person I have ever met – I know walking has been a great mystery and wish since she was about 3 months and was just lying on the carpet observing the world move around her. Probably, she was thinking: ‘I want to do this ASAP’. During the last months I could see her energy and her moves all directed to that same goal.

And now she did it.
I am so proud of her. I can see that she is also proud of herself.

Way to go, little girl!

Failure?

The weekend went by so fast there was no time to do any knitting at all. Even though I got up at 6 o’clock on Saturday to finish the collar I did not make it. Tamara woke at 6.20 demanding my attention.

Firday afternoon was the first whole afternoon spent in a non-mum-related activity. There is a culinary school in Skofja Loka and I went for a course in Mexican cuisine. The cook was great – in just 3,5 hours he made 24 dishes (some of them were – of course- ‘just’ fillings for the tortillas). Besides having enjoyed to observe the technique and skills of the master I’ve also had quite some fun trying to cut churros dough with scissors into 2 litres of boiling oil.

We spent the rest of the weekend visiting my family in Dolenjska – every time we drive there I am stunned with the beautiful landscape.

Since my sister took Tamara for a walk we could take a shor trip to the woods alone – it’s been almost a year since we’ve been alone to the forrest, just me and my hub. And the yellow and brown leaves. Some green grass. And tiny chestnuts.

Have I already said that this is my favourite time od the year?

Tamara has been ill since Monday. She had fever and we haven’t gone out of the house since. The weather has been great and her tenperature has fallen today, but she has developed red spots. This means she has 6th desease (according to very reliable internet forums).  It’s a funny name for a desease. I wonder how it’s called in other languages?

Here is a photo of her, taken last week, demonstrating yoga to my coworkers:

There you go! Now  you know how to do it properly. ;)
