Tomorrow, we are off to Macerata where we will visit our friends from the USA.

I am so much looking forward to this, becase, we are going to meet after 3 years and there’s much to talk about. Besides, Macerata is a wonderful Italian walled town seated on a hill. From the city walls there are splendid views of  the landscape, filled with rolling hills. The same adjective could be used to describe confectioneries well hidden in the labyrinths of not-so narrow, but still (at least to a foreigner) quite puzzling streets.

Here’s a pic I found on the Commune di Macerata web site.

Of course I hope to buy some yarn for my next knitting project(s)!

Tamara loves laptop(s) - she is not very picky, she’ll use mine or my husband’s. Whichever’s at hand. She will bang with her little fists on keyboard and sometimes (quite often, actually), she will press combination of buttons that trigger some kind of action - open pop-ups, start new programs, shut down the internet connection…

Yesterday she has managed to write a secret message on my Vista ‘notes’.  Am such a proud mother I will not change it in years to come :)

Gray days continued

Last week flew by so fast I didn’t even notice it ended.

Only on Friday did we get some sunshine, otherwise it was just rain, fog and rain again.

I didn’t do almost any knitting. Too bad. This week I’m going to work on the Moderne, since I have to finish it in 2 weeks.

Here’s a photo taken last weekend on Sunday when we went out for a walk despite the rain. This was outrageous for my colleagues at work who if it rains, it it is cloudy, if it is late, if it is foggy, if it is … just sit at home and watch TV. Luckily, we are more Norwegian sort of people.

Baby blanket - part two

As promised yesterday, photos of my baby blankets in progress.

Actually, it’s just one baby blanket - Moderne log cabin baby blanket. I’ve given up (for now) working on my own ’stripes and squres’ blanket. I will use the yarn for the Moderne, anyway and when I get some more leftovers, maybe I’ll try my luck again.

And here a detail of stripes:

Stripes and squares baby blanket

My friend is expecting her second baby within couple of weeks.
To be on the safe side I started a blanket long time ago. Very long time ago - maybe three months.

The general idea was I would make long ’stripes’ divided into squares and join the stripes into square when I have them all finished. (I did not want to knit many small square which I find boring and joining them together is an annoyance like so many bloggers have confirmed).
I finished the first stripe (alternating blue and colourful stripes squares) and started working on the second stripe and somehow my enhusiasm faded. I let it stand and now that I have to get back to it I found the Moderne log cabin baby blanket (there are more than 190 projects on Ravelry). So, I decided to try this new one which I really like.

The photos will follow tomorrow. Of the one finished stripe as well as the beginning of the log cabin baby blanket. :)
